Staying in Raiatea & Tahaa

Resort in Raiatea Lush and exotic, Raiatea and Tahaa are often referred to as last ‘undiscovered jewels’ of French Polynesia. Uniquely beautiful and secluded, these two tiny islands are the prefect getaway for those who want to do nothing but relax on the beach. Offering an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of more touristy islands like Tahiti and Bora Bora, both Raiatea and Tahaa provide visitors with a peaceful and tranquil ambience, where there is little else to do, but enjoy the islands beauty.

There are a number of hotels and guest houses to stay in at Raiatea, most of which are found around the Uturoa area. While there are no hotels on the beach here, many guesthouses can be found along the coast. For those who are backpacking through the islands, there are three camping areas for you to use. Hotel prices here include the 11% TVA as well as 150 CFP daily tax. On Tahaa many hotels can be found dotted all over the coast. A safe bet would be for you to make a reservation, as many hotels offer free pick and drop service from the airport or marina on Raiatea.
There is just on hotel to stay at in the center of Uturoa, the Hotel Hinano is a modern and spacious hotel with an excellent restaurant. Just south of town lies the superb Raiatea Pearl Resort Hawaiki Nui, which offers its guests all the modern conveniences. If you are looking for a cheaper hotel option then stay at the Pension Tepua, which has a bunk bed dorm and very simple bed rooms.

South of Uturoa, you can stay at the Kaoha Nui Ranch, which rooms for rent as well as a bungalow for hire on the premises. If you have a more flexible budget, then stay at the Hotel Atiapiti near the Marae Taputapuatea. There are a number of guesthouses here to choose from, which have beach and garden views.

On Tahaa one of the best places to stay at is the Le Tahaa Pearl Beach Private Island Resort. One of the best hotels in the country, the Le Tahaa offers spacious and luxurious rooms with a full service spa for its guests.

Located on a motu north of Tahaa is Vahine Island, another luxury resort with all the perks of a five star hotel. For those who are traveling on a budget some good low-cost and affordable hotels include the Chez Pascal, the Chez Louise, the Hotel Marina Iti and the Hotel Hibiscus.
