Diving in Raiatea & Tahaa

Scuba Diving in Raiatea While there are plenty of water sports to enjoy on Raiatea and Tahaa, one of the best activities here is scuba diving and snorkeling. The diving in Raiatea and Tahaa is par excellence with fabulous warm water temperatures and great underwater visibility. Plus, what makes these two islands even more special is that there are some truly superb diving locations on the surrounding motus in the area as well.

If you like you can also go for a lagoon excursion, and see first-hand the beauty that Raiatea and Tahaa possess underwater. Considered to be the most stunning lagoon in French Polynesia for its incredible wealth of coral and underwater marine life, this lagoon is a sight to behold. An excursion package of the lagoon includes snorkeling and diving trips as well as picnics on the lovely white sand motus.
If you like you can also go for a shark feeding dive here, and visit a pearl farm on the islands as well to see how pearls are cultivated. A favorite location for divers, Raiatea is a key marine center for the Leeward Islands. This shared lagoon is not only rich in marine life, but its underwater landscape is lush and varied, with sea mounts, steep drop-offs, deep caverns and many shipwrecks as well.

With the waters out here nice and calm, diving in Raiatea and Tahaa means that you can spot a variety of fish, including eels, red snappers, rays, silver jacks, tuna, triggerfish, perches and red runners. This lagoon is also home to a number of shark species such as the reef shark.

Dive into one of the most famous dive sites in French Polynesia, the Teavapiti Pass that plays host to many beautiful coral massifs. The Miri Miri Pass offers a great dive as you can spot some beautiful purple coral underwater. Les Roses has a striking coral rose field that you can swim through, while on Tahaa, the Ceran Pass is home to some lovely yellow coral and a number of fish species.
